The meeting will have 8 major symposia which will occur at various days throughout the conference as well as 1 special session: COVID-19 and the Science of Pandemics—Lessons Learned, featuring Dr. Anthony Fauci, Linda J. Saif, and Akiko Iwasaki. 

The first 2021 AAI President’s Symposium will take place on May 12. The discussion, titled “The Impact of Immunology on Health and Diseases: As Far as the Eye Can See,” will include 4 female speakers: Etty (Tika) N. Benveniste, Mary N. Carrington, Blossom A. Damania, and Laurie H. Glimcher. Prior to the discussion, the current AAI president, Jenny P.-Y. Ting, will speak and be introduced by Jeffrey A. Frelinger.

More Events Throughout the Week:  

  • Monday, May 10: Second President’s Symposium. 
    • This discussion, titled “Genes and Genomes in Healthy and Autoimmune Lymphocytes,” will feature guest speakers Michael S. Krangel, Frances E. Lund, Eugene M. Oltz, and Max D. Cooper. The opening address will be given by the 2019-2020 president of AAI, Jeremy M. Boss, with an introduction given by Peter E. Jensen. 
  • May 11-15: Virtual exhibit hall. 
    • At the exhibit hall, attendees can view products and services from leading scientific companies and organizations. Participants will be able to visit booths and learn more through product videos and resources, engage through Live Chat and/or scheduled appointments, and attend workshops.
  • Thursday, May 13: Awards ceremony and “state of the association.”
    • During this event, members will hear from the CEO, the Secretary-Treasurer, the Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Immunology (The JI), and the Chair of the Committee on Public Affairs on the financial standing of AAI, the status of The JI, important public policy issues, and other items of interest for the membership.
    • Special AAI awards will also be presented during this session to distinguished members of the association and to individuals who have contributed significantly to the advancement of immunology medicine. Recipients of these awards will be announced during the annual Business Meeting. 
  • Every day: Poster sessions held unopposed by any other session. 
    • Individual posters will be available for attendees to view throughout the virtual meeting. During the meeting, attendees can also interact with the authors via chat or email.
